  • What is a Sorority?
    A sorority is defined as a women's student organization that is formed chiefly for social purposes. However, it offers much more than just membership and social expansion. A sorority provides academic enhancement, life-long friendship, development of leadership skills, and the opportunity to serve the community. As a national organization, a sorority generates personal and professional growth through networking and participating in other activities well beyond your college years.
  • How do you know which sorority is right for you?
    The best answer to this question is to do your research on each organization. That can't be stressed enough. Being a part of a sorority is a commitment that lasts a lifetime, so please know what you are getting yourself into. This philosophy should be taken into many aspects of your life. The internet is a great place to start when looking into sororities. Do your research on the particular chapter that you would be interested in joining as well. A member of the organization is good option for information, so don't be afraid to ask!
  • How much is the new member intake process?
    It is recommended to save about 2-3 months rent.
  • How do you meet the members of the sorority you wish to belong to?
    The best way to meet members of the sorority that you wish to join is by being active on campus. Most Greeks are members of other organizations, campus leaders and have on campus jobs. You are bound to interact with a member of the org you desire to be a part of within due time. Specifically for this chapter, If you see one of us out and about, just say hi. Feel free to introduce yourself to a member! Another great way to meet the members of an organization is to attend an interest meeting. This can be very informative about the organization and its members. It is a great way to get a little more one on one personal connections with the members. An email to the chapters email address is a method of introduction as well.
  • What sets Sigma Gamma Rho apart from the rest?
    Our organization focuses a lot on what true sisterhood is. It is important to us to make everyone feel welcomed, playing the true role of a sister. Our history is rich, being as we are the only sorority founded at a PWI.
  • What is the GPA requirement?
    2.8 or higher.
  • Can I be a Part-Time student and participate in your intake process?
    You must be a full-time student in order to participate.
  • What is the time requirement like?
    Could be up to 2 semesters.
  • Is community service hours required?
    It is not required, but is highly recommended.
